Meet the staff at Head 2 Heart
Founder & Head Tutor
With over 27 years experience, Mr. P has developed a unique approach that goes far beyond academics. He's not just a tutor- he's a connector. By meeting students at their level with humor, warmth, and a genuine love of learning, he creates an environment where kids feel safe, seen, and ready to grow. Every lesson is tailor-made, designed not just for how a student learns but who they are.
When Mr. P is not teaching or tutoring, he enjoys reading, spending time with his dogs Jovi & Bailey, the New York Yankees & the New Jersey Devils, and traveling to distant beaches.
Creative Director
& Writing Tutor
By day, Ms. Serino is a passionate educator with 23 years of teaching experience, a career she chose for the creativity it allows her. By night, she is a poet, author, and creative. Publishing three books, including two Amazon bestselling anthologies centered on the breast cancer experience, a journey she knows firsthand as a proud survivor, Joely discovered a hidden talent and missed calling for graphic design, creative marketing, and writing. Working with Head 2 Heart allows her to blend all of her passions- from web design and content creation to creative marketing campaigns, lesson design, and being a writing tutor.
When she's not teaching, tutoring, or designing for Head 2 Heart, Joely loves spending time with her dogs, writing poetry, trying new art forms, reading YA novels, visiting far-off beaches, and eating ice cream.
Teacher & Tutor
Mrs. Cardenas is a Gifted & Talented teacher in West New York, NJ. Her 23 years experience also includes 4th grade, 4th grade Math, 3rd grade, and Kindergarten. She had a BS in Business and a minor in English from Montclair State University, a MA in Educational Leadership from Saint Peter's University, as well as a certificate in teaching English Language Learners from NJCU. She also has graduate training in teaching Gifted and Talented Education, as well as introductory Orton Gillingham training.
At home, Amy and her husband have two daughters, a dog, and a frog. As a family they love all things Disney and Broadway, the Mets, and traveling.
Teacher & Tutor
Mr. Behr is an English Language Arts teacher at North Bergen High School and currently pursuing a Masters Degree in English Literature at Rutgers University. With experience teaching a range of grade levels, texts, and subjects, Mr. Behr brings a supportive, engaging approach to learning, which is precisely the reason we wanted him on our team! He loves making challenging content and assignments meaningful and fun.
When Mr. Behr is not teaching, studying, or tutoring, he coaches youth baseball!
Teacher & Tutor
An English teacher in North Bergen High School, Mr. Tomlinson strives to introduce literature through fun and meaningful ways. What makes him effective is his ability to communicate and build lasting bonds with students, which is exactly what we're all about at Head 2 Heart.
When Mr. Tomlinson is not inside the classroom, he is at Bruins stadium coaching track and field. After track and field, he is a self-taught aspiring author who is trying to inject his autodidacticism way of learning into students that might strive under those methods. A true chameleon, Mr. Tomlinson will adapt to any approach to get the job done.
Teacher & Tutor
Mr. Jaludi is a dedicated and experienced educator with over 18 years of teaching English Language Arts at the high school level, currently serving at North Bergen High School. He holds a Master's degree in English from Rutger's University- Newark, where he was honored with a Graduate Fellowship for academic excellence. In addition to his secondary teaching experience, he has also taught at the college level as an adjunct professor at Farleigh Dickinson University and Hudson County Community College.
Aside from academics, what Mr. Jaludi really focuses on is helping students grow. He works to build their reading and writing skills, prepare them for the demands of college, and helps them feel confident expressing their ideas with clarity and purpose. Whether a student needs extra support or is ready for deeper, more challenging work, Mr. Jaludi tailor's his approach to meet them where they are. He aims to make learning feel relevant, engaging, and empowering for every student that he teaches.
