My daughter is a bubbly but shy soon to be 6th grader. She has a specific learning disability and has an IEP in place that includes In-class Support. She has been working with Mr. P since the 4th grade for help in both ELA and Math. She has struggled with comprehension and retention from a very young age. It was my decision to put her in tutoring in hopes to provide additional support and hopefully shorten the gap between her and her peers.

Having my daughter work with Mr. P has helped tremendously. She has gained so much confidence in herself and her work. She participates more in class, her comprehension and retention have improved greatly, and overall she is less anxious about assignments and tests.

Do it! Watching the interactions between my daughter and Mr. P has been such a pleasure to behold. He doesn’t just go through topics robotically, he makes learning fun with silly jokes, stories, and voices. He takes the time to learn the ins and outs of your child and tailors lessons to their specific strengths/weaknesses. He knows exactly how/when to push them while building their confidence at the same time. He is excellent at what he does. You won’t regret it!

Everything in general. Mr. P makes everything fun; he is funny too. He helps me to find and highlight important things in ELA and math.

Feeling comfortable and not afraid to learn new things. Mr. P makes me feel like I could do anything!

Josiah is a brilliant child who lacked in confidence and test taking. He was performing poorly in his math class because of those reasons.

Josiah has improved greatly with his grades. He is confident and consistently motivated to do better each day and it shows.

I would tell them that Mr. P is truly gifted with working with children. The way he creates a plan for each individual child, his patience, and dedication is admirable.

Time is key. Improvement can be seen when given the time.

I struggle when focusing on longer assessments. I often overthink, which leads to failures.
How has our tutoring service helped you grow as a student?
The tutoring services helped me understand that I have to slow down when testing. I may know the material, but it doesn’t matter when I’m trying to beat the clock rather than understand what the question states.
What have you, the student, enjoyed most about working with your tutor?
Enjoyed that they take their time to see what I may have missed about myself in terms of tutoring.
